Moldova represented at Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in European Union
Chisinau, 25 September 2026 – The deputy chair of the parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finance, Dorian Istratii, has participated in the Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the European Union. The event took place in Ireland on 24–25 September.
The conference’s agenda included three sessions. The first was dedicated to the European Union’s public finances in times of turbulence. The discussion focused, in particular, on how the 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework and the proposed own resources package could address investment needs, strengthen social cohesion, coordinate economic policies and combat climate change.
The second session addressed the balance between fiscal responsibility, flexibility and social convergence, in the context of current macroeconomic challenges. The third session focused on strengthening the role of the euro globally and consolidating digital sovereignty, with a view to completing the Economic and Monetary Union.
The Interparliamentary Conference on Stability, Economic Coordination and Governance in the European Union brings together representatives of the national parliaments of the European Union member states and the European Parliament. The event provides a framework for exchanging opinions and best practices in the coordination of economic, fiscal and budgetary policies. The conference is generally held twice a year: during the first half of the year at the European Parliament and during the second half in the country holding the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Ireland has been holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union starting from July 1 till December 31, 2026.
