
PDM leader is first registered candidate for President of Moldova
Chisinau, 10 September /MOLDPRES/ – The Head of Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Marian Lupu was registered today by the Central Election Commission (CEC) in the election campaign for President of Moldova.
CEC deputy chairman, Rodica Ciubotaru stated at the meeting that total of 1384 signatures submitted by initiative group, were declared null and void, and 15157 available.
"According to the act of presenting and receiving documents and subscription lists presented by Marian Lupu, CEC received for control 877 subscription lists with 25 499 signatures in support from 29 administrative units of level II. Also, 123 lists were returned without being verified because the number of signatures exceeded the maximum limit. The initiative group to support candidate Marian Lupu as president of Moldova, complied with law and respected Electoral Code in force, so as to collect signatures and present financial report on the flow of financial resources," said Ciubotaru.
Alina Russu, CEC Chairman, declared: "when it is adopted CEC’s decision on ballot and each candidate’s serial number, Marian Lupu will be placed in number one position."
Previously, PL candidate Mihai Ghimpu and PPEM candidate Iurie Leanca submitted to CEC petitions with signatures collected in their support.
Since the election period start, CEC registered 24 initiative groups to collect signatures in candidates’ support forwarded to President of Moldova. These include: Marian Lupu – PDM, Mihai Ghimpu – PL, Igor Dodon – PSRM, Iurie Leanca – PPEM, Andrei Nastase – Party Platform Dignity and Truth, Maia Sandu – Action and Solidarity Party and Dmitri Ciubasenco – Our Party.
