Ukraine interested in Moldova's experience within International Fund for Agricultural Development

The Consolidated Unit for the Implementation of Projects (UCIP) of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is organizing an experience exchange meeting between Moldova and Ukraine in Chisinau on June 16–18, 2025. The meeting aims to explore potential joint projects supported by IFAD.

The delegation consists of IFAD experts, government representatives and business association members from Ukraine, who attend a workshop to draft the concept note for Ukraine's first IFAD project.

Alexandra Șian, State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), welcomed Ukraine's interest in the collaboration model between Moldova and IFAD, emphasizing the openness for the exchange of experience and best practices.

For his part, Iurie Usurelu, director of UCIP IFAD, presented the 25-year journey of IFAD programmes in Moldova, which attracted investments of about 300 million dollars and provided support for over 200,000 people in rural areas.

“These results prove the power of sustainable partnerships in supporting agriculture and rural development,” noted Iurie Usurelu.

The Consolidated Unit for the Implementation of IFAD Programmes was created by the government of Moldova, in order to implement IFAD programmes following Moldova's accession to the International Fund for Agricultural Development in 1996. The IFAD Programmes' components are implemented according to the procedures established and approved by IFAD in agreement with the government.
