Obtaining and renewing entrepreneur patents become fully digital starting 4 May

Obtaining and renewing entrepreneur patents will be possible entirely online starting May 4, 2026, through a new interface launched by the State Tax Service (STS), available nationwide.

According to the institution, the new system is designed to simplify taxpayers’ interaction with the tax authority and to facilitate quick access to services related to the patent. The interface allows submitting applications, making payments, and obtaining the document in electronic format, without going to service counters.

Among the main improvements are the optimization of the application completion processes, so that the steps are more intuitive and faster. At the same time, the system is integrated with MPay, which allows paying the patent fee, as well as contributions to the National Social Insurance House (CNAS) and the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM), through a single payment note, directly online.

Taxpayers will be able to request both the issuance and renewal of the entrepreneur patent exclusively in digital format, without the need for physical presence at the tax service subdivisions. The process involves accessing the official STS portal, authenticating via MPass in the taxpayer’s personal account, filling in the application in the “Entrepreneur Patent Management” module, making the payment, and electronically signing the request. After validation, the document can be downloaded in electronic format.

Authorities note that individuals who cannot use digital services will still be able to request the issuance or renewal of the patent in physical format at the territorial subdivisions of the STS.

Additionally, holders of patents issued or renewed until April 30, 2026, will continue their activity on the basis of those documents until their expiry date. Afterwards, in order to continue their activity, they will have to submit an application for termination of the existing patent and, at the same time, request the issuance of an electronic patent.

The State Tax Service encourages taxpayers to use the new digital functionalities and to take advantage of the modernized tax services.
