European Commissioner for Equality to pay first official visit to Moldova
European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib will pay her first official visit to Moldova on September 11, during which she will meet President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and other government members.
According to the Delegation of the European Union to Moldova, the visit will include more meetings and activities dedicated to supporting vulnerable people and strengthening crisis management capacities.
During the visit, Hadja Lahbib will attend a demonstration by the Moldova Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Team, which uses equipment provided with the support of the European Union.
The European official will also visit the La Strada organization and a refugee accommodation center. The discussions will focus on supporting victims of sexual violence, as well as the needs of refugees in vulnerable situations.
At the end of the visit, Hadja Lahbib will make joint press statements alongside Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin and Labor and Social Protection Minister Natalia Plugaru. The statements are scheduled for 17:15.
This will be Hadja Lahbib’s first official visit to Moldova in her capacity as European Commissioner.
