Moldovan Central Electoral Commission says electoral period for elections of Gagauzia's governor starts in Moldova
The electoral period for the elections of the Governor (Bashkan) of Gagauzia starts today, September 3. The elections will take place on November 15, 2026.
According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), the electoral period includes all stages necessary for preparing and conducting the elections.
“The lower-level electoral bodies will therefore be established and polling stations organized, while documents for the registration of candidates for the position of Governor of Gagauzia will be received and examined. At the same time, voter lists will be updated and activities to inform voters and train electoral officials will be carried out. The subsequent stages will concern the organization of voting and the tabulation of the election results,” the CEC emphasized.
The electoral period will end once the election results have been confirmed and the mandate of the Governor of Gagauzia has been validated. The electoral campaign will begin on October 16, 2026.
On the same day, November 15, 2026, elections for deputies to the People's Assembly of Gagauzia will also take place.
