Cold-season assistance program in finalization stage

The cold-season assistance program is in the final stage and the Government will announce the support mechanism “as soon as possible.” Prime Minister Vasile Tofan made the statement at today’s cabinet meeting.

The prime minister emphasized that the authorities are making efforts to ensure that as many citizens as possible can benefit from the assistance, within the limits of the available budget.

“Together with Minister of Labour and Social Protection Natalia Plugaru, we are also in the final stage of preparing the cold-season assistance program. During the discussions, we are trying to help as many people as possible, within the limits of the budget we have. We will announce it as soon as possible,” Tofan said.

In recent years, the Government has provided citizens with energy compensation through the Aid on the Meter program. Previously, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan announced that the Government would also provide assistance to citizens this year, but the beneficiary selection criteria would be changed so that support could be directed toward the most vulnerable groups.
