Prime Minister discussed next steps in Moldova’s EU accession with European Commissioner
Prime Minister Vasile Tofan held a phone conversation with Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement. The discussion focused on advancing the Republic of Moldova’s European integration process and preparations for the meeting of the Republic of Moldova–European Union Association Council, due on 5 October.
The officials discussed the next steps on the country’s path to EU accession, as well as the continuation of the reforms needed to bring the Republic of Moldova closer to European standards.
Tofan thanked the European Union for its continued support to the country and stressed that the Government’s objective is to turn the European integration process into tangible results for citizens: a stronger economy, investment, and more development opportunities.
Marta Kos praised the impressive progress made by the Republic of Moldova in implementing European reforms. She also informed the Prime Minister that the process of unlocking the next payment under the Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova, aimed at supporting the country’s investment agenda, is in its final stage.
They agreed to continue discussions at the meeting of the Republic of Moldova–European Union Association Council on 5 October.
