Moldovan deputy PM for European integration meets with Ukraine’s new deputy PM for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration

The European path of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as cooperation between the two countries in the process of joining the European Union today were discussed at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov and Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vsevolod Chentsov, who has been recently appointed to office.

“We want to see Moldova and Ukraine become part of the European family as soon as possible, and the citizens of both countries live in peace, freedom and prosperity,” Cristina Gherasimov said.

The meeting between the two officials took place shortly after Vsevolod Chentsov had been appointed Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine.

“I congratulated him on his new mandate and wished him great success. We have known each other for a long time, and our teams work closely together, share experience and cooperate effectively on matters related to the accession negotiations,” Gherasimov stated.

The two deputy prime ministers discussed the European path of Moldova and Ukraine, as well as priorities for the coming period.

Moldova and Ukraine submitted their applications to join the European Union in 2022, shortly after Russia’s military invasion. Both countries hold candidate status and are engaged in accession negotiations with the European Union.
