European official: We want to prove to investors that Moldova is perfect place for investments
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos currently visiting Chisinau said during a national radio broadcast that the funds allocated to the Republic of Moldova by the European Union are being monitored very closely. She emphasized that transparency and proper use of the funds are essential both for citizens and strengthening investor confidence.
"These are the funds of European citizens. Transparency is absolutely essential. It is the best way to build trust in your institutions and to show investors that Moldova is the perfect place for investments," Marta Kos highlighted.
The European official noted that the first tranche of the financial package amounting to 1.9 billion euros, worth about 300 million euros, arrived in Chisinau in June. According to her, the funds will continue to be allocated based on results achieved in the area of reforms.
"All the money will result from reforms and will be based on certain projects. Most will be directed towards infrastructure, but also towards regions, kindergartens, hospitals, and other social domains. I am glad to see these resources reaching even rural areas," Kos stated.
When asked about Moldova's chances to advance in EU accession negotiations during her mandate, Marta Kos expressed optimism.
"The Republic of Moldova will be able to continue advancing towards the European Union only if it continues to deliver results. In recent years, you have experienced rapid development, but the next 3-4 years will be decisive for the future of the Republic of Moldova," the European official pointed out.
Marta Kos is on an official visit to the Republic of Moldova on 3-5 September.
During her visit, the official will hold discussions with government representatives about reforms and the European path, meet with investors and entrepreneurs about the future of the economy. Marta Kos will also talk to journalists, influencers, and content creators, and visit cultural and religious heritage sites.
This is Marta Kos's third visit to our country. She last visited Moldova on May 8–12, when she toured several localities in the north and south of the country.
