Foreign Ministry condemns violation of airspace of the Republic of Moldova: Such incidents unacceptable
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly condemns the violation of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova and the explosion that occurred near the locality of Talmaza, Ștefan Vodă district. The institution describes the incident as a serious violation of the country’s sovereignty and warns about the risk that such situations pose to citizens’ security.
“This incident constitutes a serious violation of the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova and represents a direct risk to the security of our citizens. Such incidents are unacceptable. The Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine continues to have direct consequences on the security of the Republic of Moldova,” the MFA statement reads.
The incident took place outside the built-up area of the locality of Talmaza, approximately three kilometers from the village. According to preliminary information, an aerial object hit the ground, causing an explosion and a vegetation fire. No casualties were recorded.
The Ministry of Defense noted that the object was detected at 17:37 and later disappeared from radar in the Talmaza area. The area has been secured, and specialists are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
The most effective solution to reduce the risk of overflights of the airspace of the Republic of Moldova and of drones falling on the country’s territory is to support Ukraine so that Russia can no longer continue the war. The statement was made by President Maia Sandu at a show. At the same time, the head of state emphasized that protest notes and diplomatic measures are not sufficient to change Moscow’s policy.
