VIDEO // UPDATE // Explosion near Talmaza

UPDATE: 18:55 The police have released a video from the outskirts of the village of Talmaza, where an explosion occurred. “Specialists from the competent institutions are at the scene and are examining the aircraft as well as all the circumstances,” the Police specified.



UPDATE 18:38 The Ministry of Defence provides clarifications: “The airspace surveillance systems of the National Army detected at 17:37 the entry into the airspace of the Republic of Moldova of an aerial object on the Cuciurgan–Tiraspol direction. Measures were immediately taken to close the airspace in the Central sector for a duration of 15 minutes.”

According to preliminary data, the object disappeared from the monitoring systems in the area of the village of Talmaza, Ștefan Vodă district.

Initial report: An explosion occurred this evening in the outskirts of the village of Talmaza, Ștefan Vodă district. According to preliminary information, the blast took place after an aircraft hit the ground, and as a result of the explosion, nearby vegetation caught fire.

The incident happened approximately three kilometers from the village. No casualties were recorded.

The area has been secured, and the competent institutions have intervened to extinguish the fire and establish the circumstances of the explosion.

Specialists from the Police’s Technical-Explosive Section are heading to the scene to examine the objects and determine with certainty the origin of the aircraft.

The Police recommend that citizens avoid the area and not touch any possible components or objects found at the scene.

The authorities will provide additional information after the checks are completed.
