European Generations team from Chișinău is the winner of the second edition of EU & My Grandparents. Second place went to the EUROgenerații team from Peresecina, and third place to BuNEandru team from Chișinău and Rîbnița.

In the 2026 national contest “EU & My Grandparents”, around 30 teams made up of grandparents and grandchildren from several districts of the country went through nine rounds that tested their knowledge of European history, the European Union, and the European path of the Republic of Moldova.

“I am glad that we have energetic grandparents and curious grandchildren. Today, through team games, music, dance and dialogue, they discovered together the Europe of yesterday and today and, above all, showed that our European future is built together, from generation to generation, here at home. Congratulations to all participants,” emphasized Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov.

The participants’ creativity was evaluated by a jury composed of priest Maxim Melinti, choreographer and soloist Nicoleta Fiodorov, journalist Ana Danilescu, Chef Alexandru Comerzan, and businesswoman Irina Străjescu.

EU & My Grandparents contest was launched in 2025 at the initiative of the European Integration Office, with the goal of bringing generations closer together and encouraging grandparents and grandchildren to discover together European values, history, and culture. The first edition brought together over 50 teams, each formed of two grandparents and two grandchildren, and the competition took place in three regions of the country.

The contest is organized by the European Integration Office in partnership with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Ministry of Culture, and the National Youth Agency. This year’s edition also benefited from the support of UNFPA Moldova and local authorities.
