Moldova's Foreign Affairs Ministry responds to charges launched by spokeswoman of Russian competent ministry
The leadership of the Russian Federation, which persecutes opposition, silences the free press, and eliminates political opponents, has no right to give democracy lessons to Moldova. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) of Moldova today made statements to this effect, in response to new charges brought by the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, regarding so-called pressures on the pro-Russian opposition.
Thus, the MAE emphasized that ‘’our state's institutions act solely based on law and principles of the rule of law, no matter the external pressures or insinuations.’’
Maria Zakharova today launched more criticisms against the Moldovan authorities regarding alleged pressures on the opposition ahead of the parliamentary elections.
She referred to the activities of parties affiliated with Ilan Shor, the number of polling stations opened for voters from the left bank of the Dniester, as well as protest actions organized by the Shor crime ring.
