Stopfals.md portal refutes accusations by Russia’s representative to OSCE regarding Moldova’s alleged involvement in Ukraine’s military logistics
The Stopfals.md portal has debunked the claims made by Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Dmitry Polyanskiy, according to which Moldova had become a logistics hub for the Ukrainian army, would provide supply routes for drones and intended to establish medical centers for Ukrainian troops. According to the portal, the accusations are unsupported by evidence, while some of them deliberately distort information about initiatives undertaken by the Moldovan authorities.
The statements were made by the Russian diplomat at the plenary meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, held in Vienna on October 1. Polyanskiy accused NATO and the European Union of waging a hybrid war against Russia and of drawing Moldova into this conflict.
According to the Russian official, Moldova was allegedly set to become a “logistics hub” for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, by transporting drones assembled in Europe, creating assembly lines for them and establishing medical centers for Ukrainian troops.
Moldova’s Foreign Affairs Ministry rejected the accusations, describing them as false and unsupported by evidence.
“Claims regarding alleged drone transport routes, drone assembly capabilities or medical centers meant for the Ukrainian army do not correspond to reality and are unsupported by evidence. We regret the use of the OSCE platform to promote such falsehoods against Moldova,” the institution said.
According to Stopfals.md, the accusations concerning the militarization of Moldova and the country’s transformation into a military logistics hub for Ukraine are narratives periodically promoted by pro-Kremlin sources. The portal notes that Moldova’s military strategy for 2025–2035 is defensive in nature, while support from external partners overwhelmingly consists of defensive and non-lethal equipment.
As for the alleged drone supply routes, Stopfals.md says that there is no confirmation of these claims. In September 2026, the narrative was also promoted through manipulated images presented as evidence that an aircraft carrying military drones meant for Ukraine had landed in Chisinau. The portal’s checks showed that the images had been doctored, while flight data indicated that the concerned aircraft had not come near the airspace of Moldova.
Stopfals.md points out that the Moldovan authorities have announced plans to develop capabilities for producing interceptor drones and anti-drone systems, in order to strengthen national defense. These systems are intended to intercept unmanned aerial vehicles that violate the country’s airspace. The portal emphasizes that presenting this plan as an intention to produce drones for the Ukrainian army omits the context and distorts the stated purpose of the initiative.
In addition, information concerning the possible treatment of Ukrainian war veterans in Moldova and the creation of logistics centers for the storage and distribution of medicines was presented by the Russian diplomat as plans to establish medical centers meant for the Ukrainian army. According to Stopfals.md, this wording changes the meaning of the information regarding discussions between the Moldovan and Ukrainian authorities.
The portal also shows that, starting on September 23, similar claims have been disseminated through multiple social media channels and accounts, including sponsored posts on Facebook. Some messages were published by anonymous sources and were not supported by verifiable evidence.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry also stressed that the real risks to Moldova’s security were triggered by the Russian Federation’s war of aggression against Ukraine. The institution referred to the incident on October 5 at the Palanca border crossing, where a projectile caused material damage and injured an employee of the Border Police.
Stopfals.md notes that Dmitry Polyanskiy’s statements are part of a broader series of messages by Russian officials concerning the alleged militarization of Moldova, the intention of the Moldovan authorities to draw the country into the war and the abandonment of neutrality. The portal has previously documented similar statements by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova and other representatives of the Russian Federation.
