Meeting between Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and delegation of ambassadors of Weimar format member states to OSCE
On October 19, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri met with permanent representatives to the OSCE of France, Germany, and Poland, within the Weimar Format, who were on a working visit to the Republic of Moldova.
The meeting addressed the dynamics of dialogue within the existing platforms for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, developments in the region, as well as the measures undertaken by the national authorities to resolve the pressing issues faced by residents on both banks of the Dniester.
In this context, the progress made in promoting the country’s gradual reintegration policies was presented, with an emphasis on the Government’s efforts to gradually integrate economic operators from the eastern districts of the country into the Republic of Moldova’s unified fiscal and customs framework. At the same time, the role of the Convergence Fund was highlighted, a mechanism designed to provide additional support instruments for delivering public services to citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region.
Another topic discussed was the concerning human rights situation in the Transnistrian region. The abuses occurring in the region were highlighted, including restrictions on students’ right to education in Romanian-language schools, as well as artificial obstacles to freedom of movement.
The ambassadors of the three countries, in turn, reaffirmed their firm support for a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, with respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders.
