Moldovan parliament speaker says leadership seeks closest possible cooperation with Lithuania during its presidency of Council of EU
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has discussed the reform agenda and the steps undertaken by Moldova in its European Union accession process with new Ambassador of Lithuania to Moldova Mindaugas Kačerauskis.
The speaker wished the ambassador success in carrying out his mandate and noted that it is encouraging that the diplomat knows Moldova well. Mindaugas Kačerauskis has served in more missions in Moldova since 2005.
During the meeting, the officials discussed Moldova’s reform agenda and the authorities’ objectives regarding the country’s European path.
“We continue to seek the closest possible cooperation with Lithuania, particularly during its presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2027. Our priority is to open all negotiating clusters. Through its own accession experience, Lithuania understands very well the importance of this moment,” Igor Grosu said.
Lithuania will hold the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2027.
The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Lithuania were established on July 8, 1992.
