Moldova's airspace violated again

The airspace of the Republic of Moldova was violated again on the night of September 20–21, amid massive attacks launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Defense, an unidentified aerial object illegally crossed the national airspace and was monitored by the surveillance systems of the Air Operations Service.

“The aircraft was observed moving from the direction of the settlement of Tribusivca, Vinnytsia region, Ukraine, toward the settlement of Hristovaia, in the Transnistrian segment of the Republic of Moldova, after which it was observed moving north toward the town of Yampil, in the border area. Subsequently, the aerial object continued its trajectory toward the city of Dondușeni. At 00:38, it was detected moving in the direction of Briceni District. At 00:44, the object disappeared near the settlement of Tabani, Briceni District,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

To ensure security, the airspace over the northern part of the country was restricted for 24 minutes.

Following the incident, teams from the National Army, including reconnaissance specialists and explosive ordnance disposal experts, as well as representatives of the security forces, traveled to the area near the village of Tabani to investigate the site.

The authorities stated that the unauthorized overflight of the national airspace occurred amid the massive attacks carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukraine that night.
