President of Moldovan top court confirmed in office

Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today confirmed Mihai Poalelungi in the office of president of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) for the second mandate in a row.   

On 9 February 2016, Mihai Poalelungi was reelected in the post of CSJ head, with the decision taken at a meeting of the Superior Council of Magistracy. Poalelungi was the only candidate recorded in the contest for holding the office. 

The CSJ president worked as judge at the European Court of Human Rights before 2012. Starting from 2003, he acted as judge at the Supreme Court of Justice and was appointed CSJ president for a four-year term in 2012.   

Also today, the parliament voted the appointment of Anatolie Turcan, Nicolae Craiu, Nicolae Gordila and Mariana Pitic as CSJ judges.   

The decisions passed by the parliament enter into force on the date of adoption.
