Prime Minister proposed by PAS already canceled planned trip, spoke about wealth
Alexandru Munteanu, proposed by the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) for the position of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova told a TV show that he has canceled an already planned personal trip to focus on forming the future government and implementing the governance program.
'The President convinced me to accept this responsibility. When the country calls upon you, you can't refuse. I felt it was a moment of responsibility, and I want to contribute concretely to the future of the Republic of Moldova,' said Munteanu.
The proposed Prime Minister noted that his professional experience accumulated in academia, the private sector, at the National Bank, the World Bank, and in international investments gives him the expertise needed to manage the economic and administrative challenges of the country.
'I have worked extensively in various fields, have completed projects worldwide, and understand what it means to build efficient institutions and work with people from different sectors. I will apply this experience to strengthen the government and implement the governance program,' added Munteanu.
Regarding his wealth, Munteanu was clear:
'I don't have planes or yachts, but I have enough means to support my family. I have invested a lot in the education of my children, I have two sons, and they have also built their careers. The younger one was born here, the older one in the USA. I have enough means to be independent myself and my family. I want to have the freedom to travel. We have a tradition with friends - to visit something new each year. In Romania, for example, I visited Maramureș this year, which I liked very much. It was extraordinary. With accepting the role, I have already canceled a trip to Portugal, where we were supposed to go with my wife, with friends from Ukraine. With our club, we were supposed to go skiing in Austria in March, yesterday I called the guys and told them I will only do Zoom skiing. Everything I have done in life so far has been to build something sustainable, to create value, and to take responsibility for my projects.'
Referring to the formation of the cabinet, Munteanu explained that he has assessed most of the ministers and that approximately 80-90% of the team is already established.
'We want to create a balanced, efficient government oriented towards continuity, without radical and hasty changes.'
He also emphasized that the main priority of the future Executive will be the implementation of the governance program and turning it into a clear strategic plan for the entire country.
'The majority of citizens have voted for European integration, and the objective remains realistic: the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union by 2028.'
Munteanu's proposal is to be formalized after the first session of Parliament, and the governance program will be presented for approval during consultations with all parliamentary factions.
