Construction works at Vulcănești Electrical Substation completed

Construction works at Vulcănești Electrical Substation have been completed, and the installations are ready for energization and commissioning.

According to the Ministry of Energy, during the final stages the necessary technical tests were carried out by specialists of the contractor, the Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE), the consultant, and the state enterprise Moldelectrica. The results confirmed that the installations are ready to be put into operation.

All three phases of the substation have also been connected, and final technical adjustments are currently being made before commissioning. The Ministry of Energy specifies that the completion of the works and the positive test results allow moving to the energization stage of the Vulcănești Electrical Substation and the associated infrastructure. The acceptance procedures are to be carried out in the coming period.

In parallel, works continue at the Chișinău Electrical Substation, another key objective for the commissioning of the Vulcănești–Chișinău Energy Independence Line. According to the Ministry of Energy, three teams of workers are active on site, where works on the exterior container have been completed and the installation of protection cabinets is ongoing. At the same time, the necessary connections are being prepared for integrating the substation into the national power system.

The Vulcănești–Chișinău Overhead Power Line has a length of approximately 157 kilometers and will connect the 400 kV substation in Vulcănești with the 330 kV substation in Chișinău.

The project is being implemented under the Power System Development Project and is financed by the World Bank Group. The new power line will contribute to strengthening the energy security of the Republic of Moldova and to a more efficient integration of the national power system with European networks.
