Deputy Speaker’s message on U.S. Independence Day

Deputy Speaker Doina Gherman today sent a congratulatory message to the American people on U.S. Independence Day, celebrated on July 4. The official praised the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America, which over the years has contributed to economic development, the modernization of infrastructure and the energy sector, as well as to the strengthening of democratic institutions.

At the opening of the parliamentary session, Doina Gherman underlined that the United States will mark 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

“It is a quarter of a millennium of history and firm commitment to fundamental values – freedom and democracy. On behalf of Parliament, we extend to the American people our most sincere congratulations and wishes for prosperity and well-being. The strategic partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America contributes directly to the peace, development, and independence of the Republic of Moldova,” said Doina Gherman.

The official expressed her gratitude to the American people for the support given to our country starting in 1992.

“More than 1.7 billion dollars have been invested in assistance programs for economic development, the modernization of infrastructure and the energy sector, as well as for the consolidation of democratic institutions. Dear American friends and partners, we wish you a joyful Independence Day, filled with happiness and national pride,” remarked Doina Gherman.

The National Day of the United States of America, celebrated annually on July 4, marks the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Second Continental Congress in 1776, a document through which the 13 British colonies in North America proclaimed their independence from Great Britain and laid the foundations of the United States of America.

The Declaration of Independence, drafted primarily by Thomas Jefferson, enshrines the fundamental principles of the American state, affirming that all people are equal and possess full rights.
