Social benefits totaling 76.3 million lei provided to citizens of Moldova residing in Transnistrian region in first half of 2026
In the first half of 2026, citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region received social benefits totaling 76.3 million lei, paid from the state social insurance budget. Compared to the same period in 2025, when the value of benefits amounted to 27.6 million lei, the sum paid was 176.45% higher, representing a 2.76-fold increase.
At the same time, during the reference period, 8,016 people residing in the Transnistrian region received social payments, compared to 2,752 people in the first half of 2025, which represents an increase of 191.28%, or 2.91 times.
Compared to the first half of 2025, the main categories of social benefits recorded the following developments:
The number of monthly allowances for the care of a child up to 2 years of age increased by 480.39% (5.80 times), from 617 to 3,581; The number of old-age pensions increased by 77.68% (1.78 times), from 690 to 1,226; The number of temporary incapacity for work allowances increased by 50.30% (1.50 times), from 505 to 759; The number of monthly state allowances for war veterans increased by 154.93% (2.55 times), from 213 to 543; The number of one-off childbirth allowances increased by 434.67% (5.35 times), from 150 to 802.
The increase in the value of social benefits granted and the growth in the number of beneficiaries show that more and more citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region are exercising their social rights, regardless of their place of residence. Honoring social commitments to all citizens of the Republic of Moldova, regardless of their place of residence, remains a permanent priority for the national authorities.
