Ad-hoc committee decided to propose dismissal of disciplinary proceedings initiated against former Acting Prosecutor General

The ad-hoc committee decided today to propose the dismissal of disciplinary proceedings initiated against the former acting Prosecutor General, Dumitru Robu. The decision was made due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for disciplinary liability, without examining the merits of the alleged actions.

The ad-hoc disciplinary committee was formed on December 11 to examine the complaint submitted by three members of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) regarding alleged disciplinary actions attributed to Dumitru Robu.

“Following the review of the complaint during today's meeting, the ad-hoc committee decided to propose the dismissal of the disciplinary proceedings initiated against Dumitru Robu, due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for disciplinary liability, without examining the merits of the alleged actions. Additionally, members Alexandru Postica and Octavian Iachimovschi will present a concurring opinion,” announced CSP.

The ad-hoc committee was formed with the following members: Alexandru Postica - CSM member (proposed by CSM), Roman Scripnic - advisor in the cabinet of the Minister of Justice (proposed by the Ministry of Justice), Larisa Miculeț - advisor to the President for relations with citizens in the country and diaspora (proposed by the President of the Republic of Moldova), Octavian Iachimovschi - Master of Law (proposed by Dumitru Robu), and Ivan Rapeșco - Prosecutor at Criuleni Prosecutor's Office (proposed by CSP).

The decision of the ad-hoc committee is subject to appeal by the author of the complaint to the CSP, within the timeframe and conditions established by law.

The former acting Prosecutor General, Dumitru Robu, is the subject of this disciplinary procedure, initiated by the CSP, following a complaint filed by Prosecutor Vladislav Căruceru. The complaint refers to possible illegal actions or disciplinary violations committed by Dumitru Robu during his tenure as acting Prosecutor General. Previously, the former acting Prosecutor General denied the allegations, asserting that he strictly followed criminal procedure and legislation.
