MOLDPRES photojournalist awarded honorary title Merited Person

A photojournalist from the MOLDPRES State Information Agency, Andrei Mardari, has been awarded the honorary title of Merited Person, in high recognition of his outstanding merits and excellence in his professional activity. President Maia Sandu handed the distinction to Andrei Mardari, at a ceremony held at the Presidency today.

Clearly moved by receiving the title Merited Person and the handshake from President Maia Sandu, Andrei Mardari says he values this distinction and from now on will not stop working, but will be more inspired instead.

‘’It's an acknowledgment of my work, which essentially will keep my spirit optimistic and in no way make me feel completely fulfilled. I will continue to work with more passion. An experienced eye sees a lot,’’ the photojournalist says.

Andrei Mardari joined the MOLDPRES Agency in 1997. His lens has documented over three decades of Moldova’s independence. He has witnessed grand events, world leaders, but what captivated him most was the depth of national values. He enjoys photographing Moldovan landscapes, people's faces and traditions.

‘’When I'm at work, I see only life through the lens and forget the reality behind me. The images are a product of my activity; I try to capture details that are not always visible to the naked eye,’’ said the photojournalist.

The images captured by Andrei Mardari have become invaluable documents over time. In 2024, the master photographer released the album, Steps in Turmoil, which includes over 200 images from the early years of Moldova's independence to the present.
