Ana Revenco resigns as head of Center for Strategic Communication and Countering Disinformation

Ana Revenco announced today her resignation from the position of director of the Center for Strategic Communication and Countering Disinformation (CCSCD). She emphasized that she will continue to be involved “in projects aimed at strengthening democracy and the European path of the Republic of Moldova”.

In a message published on a social network, Ana Revenco noted that the institution, created from scratch in the midst of an information security crisis, has become an example of good practices in the field of combating disinformation.

“In 2023 I accepted the mandate to build the CCSCD from the ground up, at a time when the Republic of Moldova was facing an increasingly intense information aggression. Apparently it was an impossible mission: we did not have a model we could follow, and the institution had to be created and made operational in a crisis context. Today, as I end my mandate as director, the Center is a functional institution, with a professional team and clear working mechanisms, and the model developed in Chisinau is being analyzed in Brussels and in other states as an experience from which solutions can be taken over and adapted,” said Ana Revenco.

She thanked the Center’s team for their professionalism and contribution to the development of the institution.

“I conclude this mandate with gratitude for the work we have done together and with confidence in the institution’s capacity to continue its mission. The hybrid wars of the modern era do not end. They only constantly change their forms, tools, and methods. In this context, the Center’s team will need great adaptability in the complicated mission it will continue to have from now on. I wish them success and the ability to find appropriate responses to new threats. I will remain involved in projects that contribute to strengthening democracy and the European path of the Republic of Moldova,” she said.

Ana Revenco was appointed by Parliament as director of the CCSCD in October 2023. The Center’s mission is to strengthen cooperation between institutions in the fight against disinformation, information manipulation, and foreign interference that can harm national security and jeopardize the achievement of national interests.
