Water and sewerage prices increase in Chișinău
Residents of the municipality of Chișinău will pay more for water supply and sewerage services after the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) approved new tariffs today for Apă-Canal Chișinău company, as well as for three other operators in the country.
According to ANRE’s decision, the tariff for drinking water supply in Chișinău increases from 12.99 lei/m³ to 14.03 lei/m³, while the average tariff for sewerage and wastewater treatment rises from 6.63 lei/m³ to 7.40 lei/m³. For household consumers, the sewerage tariff is set at 6.63 lei/m³, while for non-household consumers it remains 10.16 lei/m³.
At the same time, the tariff for the production and transportation of water intended for redistribution increases from 4.22 lei/m³ to 6.27 lei/m³, while the tariff for the supply of technological water decreases from 12.23 lei/m³ to 7.66 lei/m³.
ANRE specifies that the tariff review was initiated at the operators’ request and was based on updated economic and financial indicators for 2026, including the evolution of electricity costs, the projected consumer price index, the estimated volumes of water supplied, and adjustments to regulated revenues. According to the regulatory authority, in the case of Apă-Canal Chișinău, the regulated revenue requested by the operator was reduced by more than 72 million lei after recalculating expenses related to depreciation, royalties, and other tariff components.
Thus, ANRE approved a tariff for drinking water lower than the one requested by the operator, which had asked for 15.55 lei/m³, and an average sewerage tariff of 7.40 lei/m³, compared to the requested 7.68 lei/m³.
In the same meeting, ANRE approved new tariffs for the operators in Ocnița (30.20 lei/m³, compared to 30.17 lei/m³), Căinari (18.06 lei/m³, compared to 16.69 lei/m³), and Iurceni (28.71 lei/m³, compared to 25.72 lei/m³).
The last tariff adjustment for water for the capital’s residents was in March 2025.
