PHOTO GALLERY // Diaspora Days: stories, books, art that preserve connection with Moldova
Books, art and emotions gathered in Chisinau – this is how Diaspora Days began, an event that highlights the creativity and contribution of compatriots who settled abroad.
At the opening of the tenth edition of the Diaspora Days, the National Library of Moldova (BNRM) hosted three book launches and a painting exhibition, events that brought together writers, artists and culture enthusiasts.
Author Dina Vâncean presented the volume titled, A Holiday in Lipnic, inspired by childhood longing and the connection with her native places; Iurie Cojocaru launched his pocket book, The World in Which We Lived, while Tamara Șchipu presented to the public the volume, My Vegan Farm Food, a combination of vegan recipes and Moldovan culinary traditions.
At the same time, artist Olga Chilat, who lives in Brussels, opened a painting exhibition, Beyond the Threshold – Folklore Translated into Contemporary Illustration, an artistic reinterpretation of the symbols, heritage and cultural identity of Moldova.
The atmosphere of the event, the encounters between authors, artists and the public, as well as the emotions of the participants, were captured by the photojournalist of the MOLDPRES State Information Agency, Andrei Mardari.
