Moldovan parliament launches campaign, I Am Moldova 35 Generation; citizens born in 1991 invited to share messages about country’s independence

The parliament today launched the campaign, I Am the Moldova 35 Generation. As part of this initiative, citizens born in 1991, the year when the country’s Independence was proclaimed, are invited to send a message about what the Republic of Moldova means to them 35 years after independence.

At the opening of the today’s parliament meeting, MP Ludmila Adamciuc emphasized that the action is dedicated both to Moldovans at home and to those in the Diaspora, who have grown up together with the independent Republic of Moldova.

“The government on July 29 approved the National Programme of actions dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of the Republic of Moldova – ‘The Independence that Unites Us. Moldova – 35’. Thus, the parliament is joining this initiative and is launching the campaign, ‘I Am the Moldova 35 Generation’. We invite those born in 1991, the year of the proclamation of Independence, to send us a message about what the Republic of Moldova means to them 35 years after independence. The authors of the messages will be invited to the solemn parliament meeting on August 26, and the most inspiring message will be published on the parliament’s official website and page,” noted Ludmila Adamciuc.

Messages can be sent until August 20 to the address moldova35@parlament.md.

This year, Moldova will mark 35 years since the proclamation of Independence through a national programme that will bring together cultural, educational, commemorative and festive events held until December 2026.

The programme, The Independence that Unites Us. Moldova-35, approved by the government, includes more than 20 events organized in the country and abroad. Traditionally, on August 27, on the Great National Assembly Square, festive events dedicated to Independence Day, as well as a military parade will take place. The programme also includes the Great National Dictation, organized on August 31, as well as exhibitions, documentaries and youth-oriented projects held till the end of the year.

The programme also sees the issuance of a commemorative coin and a series of postage stamps, the organization of the National Award Gala, the Maria Biesu  International Opera and Ballet Festival, the European Heritage Days and the National Carpet Fair “Covorul Dorului” (The Carpet of Longing).

In addition, school and university students will take part in a string of activities dedicated to history and national values. On September 1, the new school year will begin with the Lesson of Independence, and topic-related activities will be organized in schools as part of the National Values Decade.

The planned actions aim to strengthen the sense of belonging, promote cultural heritage and enhance the visibility of Moldova.
