DOC Moldovan official journal roundup for today
The promulgation decree and the law for amending certain normative acts (related to the issuance of identity cards for citizens of the Republic of Moldova and residence cards for foreign citizens, stateless people, refugees and beneficiaries of humanitarian protection) have been published in the Official Journal and have entered into force.
The new identity cards issued to citizens of the Republic of Moldova will not contain information regarding the domicile or temporary residence of the holder, nor information about their patronymic.
Thus, some data of the holder will not be included in the document, but will be accessible in the State Population Register via the interoperability platform (MConnect).
Excluding domicile data will exempt holders from the obligation to change their documents each time they change their place of residence.
Besides personal data of the holder, the identity card also contains an electronic signature, valid for 5 years, allowing access to data in electronic format.
Citizens of the Republic of Moldova can request the issuance of new type identity cards starting from 2 April. The first one million identity cards will be issued free of charge to individuals requesting the document for the first time, with a processing time of 20 working days.
Citizens holding a valid identity card are not required to obtain the new identity card. Identity cards remain valid until their expiration.
