Moldova received 19 special vehicles and equipment from Japan
The Republic of Moldova received 19 modern special vehicles and equipment from Japan. They will contribute to increasing the efficiency of rescue and firefighting missions.
Today, an event was held to showcase the vehicles and equipment delivered under the Moldovan-Japanese project Improving Fire Prevention Equipment, implemented with the support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The event was attended by Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin, President of Japan International Cooperation Agency Akihiko Tanaka, JICA delegation and the leadership of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).
Officials noted that this support from the Japanese people strengthens the response capabilities of IGSU and reinforces the long-term partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Japan in emergency management.
"We thank you for supporting the Republic of Moldova. We look forward to strengthening this strategic collaboration, which directly contributes to the safety of our citizens. Citizen safety is a shared responsibility, and together we demonstrate that we can build a safer, more resilient Moldova, better prepared for future challenges," said Daniella Misail-Nichitin.
After the official part of the event, firefighters conducted a demonstrative exercise, involving the equipment, highlighting the enhanced operational capabilities of the rescuers in real intervention conditions.
The project was carried out following the signing of documents on November 26, 2021, between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova and the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Moldova, through which a grant worth about 14 million dollars was provided.
