Judiciary reform discussed with PACE delegation in Chisinau

The Ministry of Justice hosted a meeting with co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), who are on a fact-finding visit to the Republic of Moldova.

Current issues such as judiciary reform, the fight against corruption, human rights compliance, prison conditions, and the progress made in these areas were addressed during the talks.

An important point on the agenda was the analysis of the Government Agent's Report for 2024, which reflects the measures adopted by the Moldovan authorities to implement the decisions and judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.

Additionally, officials discussed the outcomes of the first stage of the vetting process and the procedure for appointing the new Prosecutor General.

The visit of the co-rapporteurs is part of the efforts to monitor the commitments assumed by the Republic of Moldova in the relationship with the Council of Europe.

Co-rapporteurs Pierre-Alain Fridez and Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica are on a fact-finding visit to our country on 26 - 28 May.
