Marina Tauber on trial for illegal financing and document forgery, may learn her sentence today

Deputy Marina Tauber, closely associated with the fugitive Ilan Shor, may learn her sentence today. The judges of the Chișinău Court are meeting at 16:00 to examine the case, after all the pleadings have been presented. Prosecutors have requested a 13-year prison sentence.

According to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Marina Tauber is accused of falsifying reports on the financing of the electoral campaign and the political party, accepting illegal financing from an organized criminal group, and interfering in the administration of justice. Prosecutors have demanded a 13-year prison sentence under partial cumulative conditions, a ban on holding public office, and engaging in economic activities within political parties for a period of five years, as well as preventive arrest and issuing a search warrant for the accused.

Additionally, the court case also involves Shor Political Party, which faces two charges related to falsifying financial reports and accepting illegal funding. Prosecutors have requested acknowledgment of the legal entity's guilt, although they called for the criminal process against the party to be terminated due to its dissolution by the Constitutional Court's decision.

The prosecutors have also requested the confiscation of over 9.9 million lei, considered as evidence, and the special confiscation of approximately 197 million lei from Marina Tauber, amounts alleged to have been used in committing the offenses.

Marina Tauber left the Republic of Moldova at the beginning of the year, and her last public appearance was on July 6, in Moscow, alongside Ilan Shor, during the Congress of the 'Victory' political bloc.
