Leader of extra-parliamentary political party detained in illegal funding case
The Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) announced the detention this morning of the leader of an extra-parliamentary political party. Institution's spokesperson Emil Gaitur made the statement today.
The case handled by prosecutors involves suspicions of illegal political party funding and money laundering.
Criminal proceedings are underway, and prosecutors state that they will provide more details as the investigation progresses.
Media reports suggest that the detained person may be Gabriel Călin, leader of the Christian Social Union of Moldova.
