President after 28 September parliamentary elections
After the conclusion of the parliamentary elections on September 28, President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu held a press conference where she thanked the citizens for their active participation in the vote: "I extend my sincere thanks to all citizens who went to vote, both within the country and abroad, in small villages or large cities. Every vote counted. We have shown the world that we are a country of brave and dignified people. We did not allow ourselves to be bought, intimidated, scared; we mobilized and protected our country through honest voting."
The head of state also emphasized the importance of citizen unity: "The election result is not the victory of a party or some voters. It is the victory of the country. And we must use this victory for the good of all citizens, regardless of who they voted for. Moldova is our home and we all want the same things: to live in peace, freedom, to offer our children a secure future here at home. The shortest path to these goals is the European path. Yesterday's vote is a strong mandate for the EU accession process."
The President mentioned that a stage of responsibility and joint work follows, in which the mandate given by the citizens must be transformed into a secure and prosperous European future for all the people of the Republic of Moldova.
