More schools of Moldova receive books to support pupils' performance

A total of 27 general education institutions of Moldova have been endowed with a batch of over 5,000 Romanian language books, provided through the project Equipping Libraries of Moldova, edition II. The action was carried out by the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC), based on the partnership between the Department for Relations with of Moldova of Romania’s government (DRRM) and the National Library of Moldova (BNRM).

According to MEC, each school received 178 titles, including classic literature, books for children and adolescents, fiction and personal development volumes. The total value of the donation amounts to about 30 thousand lei. The selected units are institutions where there is a shortage of educational resources and where students need support to improve their academic results.

"A library full of books means an extra chance for every pupil to discover the world, develop his/her imagination and enhance the performance," said Marcelina Baleca, the head of the General Education Policy Department at MEC.

The Ministry of Education and Research announces that it will continue to support equipping schools with modern resources and educational programmes, aiming to align the national education system with European standards.

The Equipping Libraries of Moldova project was launched based on a partnership agreement between DRRM and BNRM, aiming to enhance pupils’ access to reading and increase school performance. The current edition marks the second phase of the book donation programme for educational institutions.
