Chișinău MPs participate in autumn session of PACE

A parliamentary delegation of the Republic of Moldova is participating on 29 September - 3 October in the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), held in Strasbourg, France.

The meeting's agenda includes debates on the protection of journalists in Gaza and the release of detained Ukrainians in the Russian Federation, support for the rule of law in Georgia, the political crisis in Serbia, new threats from Russia to European democracies, artificial intelligence, and migration.

The parliamentary delegation is led by MP Ion Groza and includes Natalia Davidovici, Andrian Cheptonar and Deputy Speaker Vlad Batrîncea.

During the session, PACE is set to discuss opinions on the creation of the International Claims Commission for Ukraine and a convention on audiovisual co-productions in serial format. Additionally, the new Secretary General of PACE will be elected for a five-year term.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the PACE Committee on the Honouring of Obligations by Member States will decide on appointing the second co-rapporteur for the Republic of Moldova, and there will be a debate on the recent parliamentary elections in our country.

The Republic of Moldova has been a member state of the Council of Europe since 1995.
