Moldovan police officers to receive training in modern forensic techniques in Turkey

The National Police of Moldova will receive specialized training in forensic science, as part of a cooperation programme with the Ankara Gendarmerie. An agreement to this effect was signed following a meeting between National Police Chief Viorel Cernauteanu and Ali Abbas Eyyüpoğlu, Adviser for Security and Internal Affairs Cooperation at the Embassy of Turkey in Moldova.

According to the National Police, the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the relevant institutions of Moldova and Turkey through the exchange of expertise, the adoption of best practices and the development of professional capacities in the field of forensic science.

The training programme will be organized by the Forensic Department of the Ankara Gendarmerie, with the support of the GS Foundation and the Embassy of Turkey in Moldova.

The training will cover modern investigative techniques and methods, including 3D laser scanning and crime scene reconstruction, facial recognition, as well as the forensic examination of audio and video recordings.

The first stage of the programme will take place in Ankara, with the participation of employees from the Technical and Forensic Expertise Center of the National Police. Subsequently, Turkish experts will carry out a study visit to Moldova, in order to continue the training and deepen the exchange of expertise.

According to the institution, the cooperation aims to modernize forensic methods and strengthen the Police’s capacity to investigate crimes.
