Prime Minister Vasile Tofan has had a meeting with Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Moldova Ulvi Bakhshaliyev. The discussions focused on strengthening the bilateral relations and making greater use of the cooperation potential between Moldova and Azerbaijan.

The PM praised the relations of friendship and mutual respect between the two countries and noted Azerbaijan’s dynamic development, as well as the important role it plays in the region, including in the field of energy security.

“Moldova views Azerbaijan as an important partner and a good friend of our country. We have great respect for the transformation and development Azerbaijan has achieved over the past decades. We want relations between our countries to become even closer and more ambitious, with investments, joint projects and increasingly stronger economic ties,” said Prime Minister Vasile Tofan.

Energy cooperation was an important topic of the discussion. The prime minister emphasized that Moldova was open to becoming a gateway to the European market for companies from Azerbaijan, including the ones operating in the energy sector.

Vasile Tofan praised Azerbaijan’s role in strengthening European energy security and its contribution to diversifying natural gas supply sources and routes.

The sides also discussed intensifying economic and investment cooperation, including through closer contacts between business communities and by attracting Azerbaijani companies to development projects in Moldova.

In addition, the officials discussed cultural cooperation and closer ties between people. They agreed on the importance of continuing cultural exchanges, including the reciprocal participation of artists and ensembles in festivals, concerts and other events organized in Moldova and Azerbaijan.

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan emphasized that the relationship between the two countries had a solid foundation and significant development potential. He expressed the government’s interest in active political dialogue and concrete projects that would bring Moldova and Azerbaijan even closer together.
