Fruiting of horticultural plantations to be established according to clearer criteria in Moldova
The parliament has adopted, in the second reading, a draft law establishing clear criteria for establishing when horticultural plantations begin to bear fruit.
The draft law provides for amendments to the Horticulture Law, by introducing new criteria for determining the time when plantations begin to bear fruit. This period will be established according to the cultivation system, the growth rate of the rootstock and variety and the type of planting material. The procedure for the onset of fruiting and the acceptance of horticultural plantations during the first year of vegetation is to be approved by the government.
According to the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry, the author of the draft law, the new rules will adapt legislation to current production conditions and help agricultural producers make more efficient use of their investments in the horticultural sector.
At the same time, the draft law provides for the removal from the Horticulture Law of provisions concerning the Horticultural Office, including the ones related to its organization, operation and financing. Responsibilities for developing and implementing policies in the field of horticulture will continue to rest with the competent public authorities and institutions.
According to the authors, the measure will prevent the duplication of administrative responsibilities and reduce additional costs for producers and exporters of horticultural products.
The law will enter into force one month after its publication in the Official Journal.
