BNM launches commemorative coin dedicated to 80th anniversary of Moldova State University

The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) is launching, starting October 1, a commemorative coin dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the founding of Moldova State University. The coin has a face value of 50 lei and a mintage of 500 pieces.

The coin completes the “Others” numismatic series and is dedicated to Moldova State University, founded on October 1, 1946. The coin’s design was created by graphic artist Stela Burciu.

The coin is made of silver and is packaged in a transparent methacrylate capsule and a presentation box. Each piece is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by BNM Governor Anca Dragu. The certificate also includes a QR code providing access to information about the coin’s characteristics on the BNM website.

Commemorative coins can be purchased by the public by submitting an online application in the “Coin” section of the BNM website, as well as through licensed banks in the Republic of Moldova.

According to the BNM, commercial banks may independently set the selling price, provided that it does not exceed the level established by the National Bank by more than 3%.

Moldova State University was founded on October 1, 1946.
