Moldovan president pays visit to Falesti city

President Maia Sandu today paid a working visit to the Falesti city, where she discussed with local public authorities the community’s problems and necessary solutions for the sustainable development of the region.

One of the main concerns addressed was access to safe drinking water, a persistent problem in more settlements of the district. The head of state said that the completion of a major infrastructure project was underway—a water pipeline that was started a few decades ago, but never finished. With a total cost of 60 million lei, it will transport water from the Prut River to the city of Falesti.

“In recent years, through the European Village programme, we have managed to extend the water pipeline networks in more localities of the district. We will continue these efforts, so that every village has access to safe water. And for such investments to continue, it is important to maintain the country's European direction,” President Maia Sandu said.

The city of Falesti has over 14,000 inhabitants.
