
Italy third most important trading partner of Moldova in EU
Italy ranks third among the most important economic partners of Moldova from the European Union. In 2024, the total value of trade exchanges between the two countries exceeded 716 million dollars.
Last year, Moldova exported to Italy mainly textile products: men's coats and jackets, jerseys, sweaters, cardigans, women's coats and jackets, women's suits. In addition to clothing items, Moldova also exported to Italy sunflower oil, wheat, meslin, cables, and wires.
For its part, Italy exported to Moldova consumer goods and industrial products such as: medicines, coffee, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, processed leather, and cables.
"The results so far show that we are on the right track, but we have room to grow. We will continue to work, in order to turn to good account the commercial potential of the Moldova in relation to Italy and the entire European Union," said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitization Doina Nistor.
According to data by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization, there are currently 1,141 enterprises with Italian operating in Moldova, with investments in share capital amounting to approximately 1.8 billion lei. In terms of the value of invested capital, Italy ranks fourth among the main investors in our country globally.
Romania ranks first among Moldova's trading partners, and Germany is the second largest trading partner of the country in the European Union.
