
Number of border crossings increase in Moldova on Easter Holidays' period
Chisinau, 27 April /MOLDPRES/ - The number of crossings at the state border is increasing on the eve of Easter, when more Moldovans return home to mark the holidays along with their relatives and friends, according to data by the Border Police.
Thus, in the last 24 hours, the flow of people represented more than 67,000 crossings, by almost 8,000 more against the previous day. Most crossings, 41,000, were registered in entries in Moldova. Also, over 32,000 of all crossings were made by Moldovan citizens.
At the same time, the most transited crossing points were Leuseni and the Chisinau International Airport.
In the context of the increase in the number of crossings, authorities undertake more actions to ease the border traffic. Among them, there is increase in the number of border policemen, redirecting the traffic to the free roads, opening the movement for families with children on the lane of the Diplomatic Corps and boosting cooperation with the border authorities of the neighbor countries.
The Moldovan fellow countrymen who returned home on 26 April were met at the border by employees of the National Patrol Inspectorate, who carried out an information campaign about the risks and consequences of driving in the state of drowsiness. Thus, drivers who covered a long distance to be along with their relatives on holidays were pleasantly surprised by patrol inspectors, who gave them coffee, water and informative folders.
