The General Carabineer Inspectorate  (IGC) received today 16 vehicles, 40 tablets, 40 mobile printers and 40 Energenie power inverters. The donation was provided under the EU4PUBLIC ORDER project, funded by the European Union and implemented in cooperation with Arma dei Carabinieri of Italy.

The new equipment is intended to strengthen the inspectorate’s operational capacities, contributing to increased staff mobility, improved conditions for carrying out missions and more efficient field operations.

“Carabineers will be able to reach people in need more quickly and will have equipment to help them respond more effectively in emergency situations. These resources will help our colleagues move more easily, communicate more quickly from the field and coordinate their interventions. Beyond the equipment, what matters is that every citizen can receive help in time and that our employees can perform their duties under the best possible conditions,” Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin said.

The official emphasized that the EU-supported project contributes to modernizing an institution capable of responding to challenges in the field of public order.

“I thank our European and Italian partners for their support to the Republic of Moldova. I thank the EU Delegation in Chișinău and the representatives of Arma dei Carabinieri for sharing their experience and for their involvement in training our employees. These partnerships give us the opportunity to learn from the experience of others and adapt best practices to the needs of our institutions,” Daniella Misail-Nichitin said.

Through the EU4PUBLIC ORDER Project, the European Union supports the development of a modern, professional and efficient public order system, in line with European standards and best practices. Cooperation with the Arma dei Carabinieri of Italy also facilitates the transfer of expertise and the strengthening of the professional skills of IGC personnel.

In addition to providing equipment and means of transport, the project includes specialized training activities, study visits and exchanges of experience, as well as support for developing the institutional and operational framework. Particular attention is paid to respecting human rights, applying the principles of legality, necessity and proportionality, and promoting a professional approach to public order management.

The EU4PUBLIC ORDER project, funded by the European Union, is being implemented from September 2024 to August 2027. With a budget of approximately €2 million, the initiative aims to strengthen the IGC’s institutional and operational capacities in the field of public order and safety by developing professional skills, promoting European standards and improving technical and logistical equipment.
