Spring conscription into National Army started: recruits undergo training and will take military oath
The process of conscripting young people for mandatory military service is taking place on 27–30 April within the National Army.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the recruits will initially take part in a basic training course designed to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for fulfilling military service. After approximately six weeks of training, they will take the military oath.
At the same time, soldiers who have completed their mandatory military service are being transferred to the reserve during the same period.
The Ministry of Defence specifies that conscription for the April–July period was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers at the Government meeting of 8 April. Recruitment for mandatory military service takes place twice a year, during the April–July and October–January periods.
The duration of mandatory military service is 12 months, while reduced-term service lasts three months.
