Police officers from Botanica Police Inspectorate of Chisinau placed in custody for 30 days
Police officers from the Botanica Police Inspectorate of Chisinau, recently detained for corruption-related activities, today have each received 30 days of pre-trial detention. The decision was issued by judges from the Ciocana Court.
A section chief and five employees of the Botanica Police Inspectorate on April 22 were detained in connection with cases of passive and active corruption committed under aggravating circumstances. In this case, more than 30 searches were carried out at more locations in the Chisinau municipality, including in the offices of certain employees of the inspectorate.
According to the National Anticorruption Center (CNA), the criminal investigation actions targeted acts of systematically demanding and receiving financial means, in amounts ranging between 3,000 and 10,000 dollars, both in cash and in virtual currency. The money was provided by individuals involved in the consumption and illicit trafficking of drugs.
