BRINGING EUROPE HOME: Cimislia upgrading public transport with EU support
Chisinau, July 16 /MOLDPRES/- Cimislia is upgrading public transportation network with the EU support. With an EU investment of 77,000 euros and 18,000 euros from the city hall, two new minibuses have been purchased and a waiting station has been built.
According to the EU Delegation to Moldova, the infrastructure is essential for the mobility of all inhabitants, including 78 refugees from Ukraine, among them elderly people, children and people with chronic diseases.
Cimislia is one of the beneficiary municipalities of the Mayors for Economic Growth (M4EG) initiative, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP Moldova.
In late 2021, the European Union and the United Nations Development Program kicked off the new phase of the Mayors for Economic Growth (M4EG) facility in the Republic of Moldova. It will aim to stimulate green and equitable development in the Eastern Partnership region. Building on the results of the previous phase (2017-2020), this initiative introduces new innovative tools and practices to address the current and future challenges of localities in the Eastern Partnership countries.
M4EG instrument derives from the Mayors for Economic Growth facility, launched and funded by the European Union in 2017. From 2021, the European Union-funded M4EG instrument is managed by UNDP in close cooperation with the EU, local authorities and other partners.
