
Famous Moldovan composer to give concert dedicated to departed Romanian poet in Vienna
Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - Composer Eugen Doga will give an author concert dedicated to Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu, occasioned by the anniversary of his death, in the concert hall of the Schönbrunn Palace from Vienna, Austria, on 15 June, in the year of the Centenary of the Great Union with Romania.
Master Eugen Doga will present his works, written on verses by poets Mihai Eminescu, Veronica Micle and Grigore Vieru, along with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Teleradio-Moldova Public Company, conducted by Dumitru Carciumaru. The soloists of the concert are soprano Mariana Bulicanu, soprano Ana Maria Donose from Iasi, Romania, tenor Ion Timofti and Vitalie Advahov playing the accordion, who will perform for the first time in the city called “capital of music.”
Contacted by MOLDPRES, composer Eugen Doga said that this concert was significant also through the fact that Mihai Eminescu had studied in Vienna and was acquainted with Veronica Micle there.
”We are a joint team. Soprano Ana Maria Donose is from Iasi, where Eminescu started his work and his great love, which inspired him in his works, appeared in Vienna. I hope that this concert will be a success and we will have more representatives of our Diaspora in the hall,” master Eugen Doga also said.
The concert is organized by the Vienna-based Mihai Eminescu Association, in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute, Ministry for Romanians Abroad, Romanian Embassy in Austria, Moldova’s Embassy in Austria and the Vienna city hall.
Eugen Doga was born in the Mocra village, Rabnita district, on 1 March 1937. He finished the Stefan Neaga music college, Conservatoire and the Gavriil Musicescu Arts Institute from Chisinau. Doga is author of valuable works in the genre of light, film and theatre music. He composed a symphony, cantatas ”Primăvara omenirii" (Spring of Mankind) and ”Curcubeul alb” (The White Rainbow), music for theatre plays, for more than 200 movies, chamber instrumental songs, sentimental songs, songs for children.
Eugen Doga was awarded the State Prize, honorific title People’s Artist, Order of the Star of Romania in the Grade of Commander, Order of Faithful Service (Romania) and Order For Merit to the Fatherland (Russia). The composer is the author of the famous waltz, My Sweet and Tender Beast, designated by the UNESCO as the fourth musical masterpiece of the 20th century.
