Promotion of renewable energy in Moldova supported by agreement with French Development Agency
The increase in the use of green energy in the Republic of Moldova will be supported by resources provided by the French Development Agency (AFD), amounting to 25 million euros. The signing of an agreement for this purpose was approved at the cabinet meeting.
The agreement includes the implementation of the Green Energy Transition Program, which supports major reforms in the energy sector to increase energy efficiency and reduce dependency on imports. This involves developing renewable sources, modernizing energy infrastructure, implementing energy efficiency solutions and enhancing consumer protection.
For citizens, the implementation of the program will be felt through more energy-efficient and cheaper-to-heat homes, locally produced energy, less pollution and support for vulnerable consumers. Through investments in public buildings and the modernization of energy networks, the program will contribute to reducing energy consumption and environmental pollution.
Funding is conditional on the implementation of concrete reforms that will bring Moldova closer to European Union standards in green energy and environmental protection.
